Today for FHE we decided to put together a 72 hour kit. This sprouted from a conversation I had with my mom the other day about being prepared and having certain stuff on hand. Not 24 hours later we were without power, at night, with a dead flashlight and no spare batteries. Yeah, definitely time to get prepared. After Hurricane Ike we now have a better idea on what we would like in a kit. Here is a basic list of our new and improved kit:
-Propane burner
-Extra propane
-Granola bars
-Juice boxes (well, Capri Suns)
-formula
-fruit cups
-apple sauce cups
-cup'o'noodles
-soups (just heat, nothing needed)
-crackers
-cereal (dry and baby)
-peanut butter
-water
-paper towels
-toilet paper
-toothpaste
-diapers (a size that would work for both kids.)
-batteries (AA and D)
-emergency flashlight and radio
-etc
We still have a few things to add, like a spare change or two of clothes, and we will probably grab bread and such if we gotta grab and go like we did with Ike, but other than that, we actually have something packed away and ready. We actually decided that those closet light things that you click and they glow are a great investment to have in a blackout. We ended up using that the other night when our flashlight was dead and it lit up the room amazingly! A must for blackouts and toddlers.
Okay. I know, not the most exciting post, but I was quite pleased that we did something productive today!

Wow! A catchup of photos!
This is quite the conglomoration of pictures, but we had a great month! We enjoyed Disney on Ice, "Who's Bad" who is a Michael Jackson lookalike band, a baby shower with Cafe Rio salads (this is a big deal out here in Texas where we are STATES away from glorious Cafe Rio), the Texans draft party, a couple of trips to the zoo, and we topped it off by going to a Dave Matthews Band concert on Friday! We've decided we've got to live it up while we are living in an area that has so much to offer!
